Irish singer CMAT delays UK tour over infected wisdom tooth
Breakout Irish singer CMAT cancelled her upcoming UK tour dates to treat an infected wisdom tooth, days after British pop singer Lola Young halted gigs having collapsed on stage.
"I am devastated to say that due to an infected wisdom tooth I need to reschedule all of my upcoming dates of the October UK tour," CMAT, whose real name is Ciara Mary‑Alice Thompson, said in an Instagram post late Wednesday.
The 29-year-old artist was due to perform in London, Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle and Glasgow following the release of her third album, Euro-Country, featuring the Irish language and tongue-in-cheek lyrics.
"I currently can't even open my mouth wide enough to laugh, let alone sing," she said, alongside a photo of her swollen cheek.
"I am in so much pain right now that I can barely think straight enough to type."
Ticket holders will be entitled to rescheduled dates or refunds, said the Dublin-born artist, who will kick off a Europe tour next year before playing the Coachella music festival in California.
Her announcement comes as her contemporary Lola Young, 24, said on Tuesday she was "going away for a while" and cancelled upcoming shows after she collapsed while performing at a New York concert.
Last year Young scored her first number one single with her TikTok viral song "Messy".
