Aldi Sets Reduced Hours for August Bank Holiday
Aldi has confirmed its August Bank Holiday opening hours
Aldi has revealed its opening times for the upcoming August bank holiday. The budget supermarket chain has set out its trading hours for the late summer break. Aldi outlets across England and Wales will be open from 8am until 8pm on Bank Holiday Monday, August 31, while stores in Scotland and Northern Ireland will operate based on their usual schedules.
Given that opening times can vary by location, customers are encouraged to visit the Aldi website to verify their local branch's hours before making the journey. Rachel Geary, communications director at Aldi UK, stated: "Whether shoppers are stocking up for a barbecue, getting together with family and friends or picking up some last-minute essentials, we want to make their Bank Holiday shop as easy as possible." Providing helpful guidance for avoiding the bank holiday rush, Ms Geary recommended: "Head to stores first thing in the morning or later in the evening is likely to mean a quieter shop.", reports Birmingham Live . For customers looking to steer clear of busy periods, data from last year's August bank holiday weekend shows that the quietest times to visit were between 8am and 9am, and 7pm and 8pm.
Aldi competes with fellow discount retailer Lidl, alongside major supermarkets including Tesco , Sainsbury's , Morrisons , The Co-op, Waitrose and Asda . The announcement follows Aldi's partnership with Freedom4Girls, its chosen charity, in urging additional supermarkets to stock complimentary period products in their customer facilities. Fresh research indicates strong public backing for supermarkets offering free access to these essential items.
Tina Leslie MBE, who established Freedom4Girls, alongside Julie Ashfield, Aldi UK's Chief Commercial Officer, have penned a joint letter to senior executives at leading British supermarket chains, encouraging them to provide complimentary period products wherever their premises permit. Research commissioned by Aldi, surveying 2,000 shoppers across the UK, revealed that 67% believe supermarkets ought to supply free sanitary pads and tampons in their customer facilities, while an equal proportion indicated they would hold a more favourable view of any supermarket implementing such provision.
