NBA fines Magic's Bane $35,000 for hurling ball at Anunoby
Orlando Magic guard Desmond Bane was fined $35,000 by the NBA on Monday for throwing the game ball with force at Britain's O.G. Anunoby of New York in an unsportsmanlike manner.
The incident took place with 6:13 remaining in the fourth quarter of Orlando's 106-100 loss to the New York Knicks on Sunday at Madison Square Garden.
Bane was whistled for a technical foul on the play, in which he hurled the ball at a sprawled Anunoby while the Knicks forward was on the court beyond the end line under the basket.
Anunoby drove to the hoop and was knocked over by two of Bane's teammates and all three fell to the court.
Bane grabbed the loose ball and hurled it into the left side of Anunoby while he was on the court.
Last month, Bane was ejected from a game after a flagrant foul and technical foul over an incident in which he knocked Atlanta's Onyeka Okongwu down and hurled the ball off his head.
Bane is averaging 18.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.5 assists a game for Orlando this season.
The Magic are 14-10 this season, fifth in the Eastern Conference.
