Bastia crowd trouble delays Le Mans Ligue 1 promotion party
Le Mans will have to wait to see if they are promoted to Ligue 1 after their game at Bastia on Saturday was suspended due to smokebombs thrown onto the pitch in Corsica.
Le Mans, relegated in 2010, were leading 2-0 in the final round of the regular season thanks to a 91st minute goal from Milan Robin before the incident with the hosts facing the drop to the third-tier.
Referee Ruddy Buquet stopped the match and sent the players to the changing rooms before announcing an hour later the game would not restart.
Elsewhere in the race for promotion, 10-time Ligue 1 champions Saint-Etienne will be in Friday's play-off despite hammering Amiens 5-0.
Les Verts will meet either Red Star or Rodez, who feature in the play-off quarter-final on Tuesday.
The winner of the Ligue 2 play-off will play the side who finish 16th in Ligue 1, currently Auxerre, in a two-legged tie, for a place in the first division next season.
Bastia are set to play in the Ligue 3 after Laval's 2-1 win over Boulogne-sur-Mer.
The Corsicans and Le Mans are awaiting confirmation of the result from the Professional Football League (LFP).
