Davis-Woodhall a doubt for Ultimate Championship after car crash
Olympic and world long jump champion Tara Davis-Woodhall is a doubt for next week's inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship after a head-on car crash that left her with severe concussion.
"Unfortunately, I'm in a down right now," the American told journalists on Wednesday.
"I was just involved in a car accident and have not been able to practise. It was a head-on collision, so dealing with some things.
"I went through something that's unfortunate and now I'm trying to figure out what I can do to get myself back on the horse."
Davis-Woodhall added that she did not sustain any life-threatening injuries, with both cars travelling at an estimated 20mph (32km/h) and both written off.
"I have a severe concussion. I don't know where my head's at right now. I'm just making it day by day. I haven't trained at all due to it."
Davis-Woodhall confirmed that she was a doubt for the September 11-13 Ultimate Championship in Budapest.
"At this point I'm working with my team and doctors to get healthy, but I'm not sure if I will be ready to compete at Ultimate Championship next week," she explained.
"It's really unfortunate timing. I'm at the peak of my training right now. I'm as fast as I've ever been. I'm as strong as I've ever been, so this decision is very difficult for me."
