Portugal Colonial - Trump Call Briefly Interrupts Nvidia Company Meeting

President Donald Trump briefly interrupted Nvidia’s all-hands meeting on Thursday by calling chief executive Jensen Huang, according to three people who witnessed the event. Nvidia’s company meetings usually feature Huang speaking and answering questions at its Santa Clara, California, headquarters while thousands of remote employees watch a livestream.

Huang stepped aside after receiving the call on his mobile phone. Employees could hear Trump’s voice through Huang’s stage microphone but could not understand what the president was saying. Huang returned in less than a minute and continued the meeting. Nvidia declined to comment on the incident.

Later that day, Trump used Truth Social to congratulate Huang on Nvidia’s quarterly sales and its forecast for the following year. Nvidia had reported second-quarter revenue of $96 billion on Wednesday, an increase of 106 percent from the same quarter a year earlier.

Huang frequently visits Washington to advocate for Nvidia’s interests in chip sales and artificial-intelligence infrastructure and has previously met Trump privately. The direct call came on the same day Nvidia announced an employee-funded political action committee that plans to contribute to federal candidates as debate over AI policy expands.

Nvidia and the Trump administration have differed over regulation of open AI models and restrictions on sales of advanced chips to China. Bloomberg Law first reported the company’s new political committee.

The call also occurred as Nvidia’s business position continued to broaden. The Information reported that Nvidia had agreed to acquire Hugging Face, a widely used provider of open-source AI models, datasets and developer tools. Business Insider reported that a transaction could be worth more than $13 billion. A deal of that scale would probably require review by US antitrust authorities.
